HARDWARE EVOLUTION

ZC95 MKI to MKII: fewer separate boards, more integrated control

The move from MKI to MKII was more than a cosmetic revision. It reduced hardware bulk, modernized power and connectors, and helped turn the ZC95 into a more cohesive four-channel platform.

2021

The MKI project becomes public

The original ZC95 project was published in late 2021 according to its project repository. From the beginning, the design was notable for four isolated channels rather than the two-output layout common to classic 312-style boxes.

MKI

A more modular first-generation layout

The first generation used a separate output-stage board, 2.5 mm output connectors and a 12 V sealed lead-acid battery. The architecture worked, but it required more internal volume.

MKII

Main functions move onto a smaller integrated design

For MKII, the main board, audio section and output-stage functions were consolidated. The project documentation describes the new main board as less than half the size of the earlier arrangement.

MKII

USB-C, 26650 and 3.5 mm outputs

The older 15 V barrel-power approach was replaced by USB-C, while a 26650 cell replaced the earlier SLA battery. Output connectors changed from 2.5 mm to 3.5 mm.

CURRENT PLATFORM

Remote operation becomes part of the identity

Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, remote control features and Lua scripting now make software behavior a major part of what differentiates the ZC95 platform from simpler two-channel devices.
